2008 Season Recap

11-11-08 National Banquet

   This past weekend was the annual Wissota National Banquet.  It was a weekend to celebrate and look back on the amazing race season.  We were awarded our plaque for the rookie of the year.  Thanks again to all that helped in reaching this goal.  A few pictures from the banquet have been added under photos. 

10-6-08 The Season has Come to an End

This last weekend the Goulet racing team traveled to the Fall Classic in Alexandria, MN for the last race of the season.  In the heat race a car in front of us blew up causing us to back to seventh place.  With the last race of the year, driving the wheels off the car we made it back up to 4th.  The B feature didn't turn out as planed with a fifth place finish.  

9-29-08 BRRP weekend

This weekend we traveled to Glyndon, MN for a two day special at BRRP.  The first night we had a good run starting last and moving up to third place for the heat.  Our starting position was sixth in the feature and came out with a top five.  The second night didn't go as well with a fourth place finish in the heat.  The feature came around and we moved up the field until getting pushed off the track and having to go to the back.  Re-starting in the back we came out with a eleventh place finish.  Next week we will finish of the year with the team traveling to eleven different tracks in four different states!

We are up and Running Again

Sorry to all the fans out there that have not been able to keep up with Goulet Racing.  We have had some computer problems and got it up and running just in time for the end of the season.  You can check out the result page for the past few weeks of racing.  Two weeks ago was the annual Wissota 100 in Huron, SD.  To our disappointment we did not make the feature do to engine troubles.  A few of the other bad shows were do to unexpected hits, and one race we were running second when a tire went down.  With only three races left we have worked hard enough and when all is said and done the Goulet team has met their goal.  We are now currently leading the National Rookie of the Year race and will be awarded at the end of the year! 

8-25-08 Five Straight Days of Racing

This week of racing started on Wednesday, traveling to Lisbon, ND.  We were running top five when lap traffic took out my upper A arm. Willmar was a good showing for the big special with a heat win.  We got stuck behind traffic in Princeton, and in Alexandria a car slid up into me busting another front A arm.  Sunday at our home track we racked up another heat win, but had trouble getting around a few cars but got a top ten finish. 

8-18-08  Two Heat Wins

It was an exciting weekend as the team moving into fifth place at the Golden Spike Speedway and am currently the National Rookie of the Year leader. 

Thursday night was the usual KRA speedway in Willmar, MN. With the top three contenders in national points starting in front of us, we got a 5th place heat finish and a 8th place feature.  For two weeks in a row we won another heat win at Princeton speedway on Friday night with a 6th place feature finish.  Back to the home track on Sunday for the first heat win at the home track and a 7th place feature finish.

  Saturday the Goulet Racing team traveled to Owatonna for a 250 lap enduro that was piloted by Andrew Goulet.  He was involved in a small crash that took out his radiator, but the team was able to get him back out for a few more laps before the race was over.  Look for us to do another one in the near future.

8-11-08 A Strong Weekend of Racing

This past week started on Wednesday in Willmar during the fair.  I came from fourth to second in the heat and finished seventh in the feature.  Friday night at Princeton was a huge booster.  I started fourth and won my third heat win.  The feature came and I held off most of the field to a third place finish.  The next stop was up to Alexandria, MN to the half mile track.  We were running very strong in third place when some contact occurred and we ended up dropping back to seventh.  The spike was the last stop for the weekend and a good one. Ended getting another top five, but this time on only 7 cylinders.  We busted a push rod, rocker, and the lifter as well.  We have parts and will be ready to roar again in Willmar. 

8-4-08 Wisconsin Trip

We planned on racing four nights this past weekend, which got shortened to only two nights due to rainouts.  Friday night Andrew and I headed out to St. Croix Falls to race at Kopellah.  We were doing very well in the feature, running third when the rear swing arm busted.  Saturday night we traveled to Rice Lake, WI finishing fourth in our heat and having some trouble in the feature with a slick track.  We are looking forward to the upcoming week to race back around home. 

7-28-08  Good Luck....Bad Luck

Thursday night we were back in Willmar Minnesota.  The night ended with a top five finish and the car in one piece.  Friday night led us to Princeton.  With over thirty cars we had some bad luck in the heat, but ended up making the feature through the B main.  The rest of the night was just having fun racing.  Saturday night in Brainerd the bad luck was over us.  We won our heat and was running third in the feature when they called a yellow on us.  It was a terrible call and the track owner knows it, but it lost us a good point night.  Sunday night at the spike the good luck was with us, starting last in the heat and finishing fourth.  The feature came around and we ended the weekend with another top five finish for the Goulet Racing Team.

7-21-08 Well needed Vacation

Thursday night we started 6th in the heat and finished 3rd.  The feature came around and the set up was a little off but held on to a 7th place finish.  The Goulet Racing team took off Friday and Saturday to spend time at the lake.  Sunday came around and we had our best finish yet, finishing second in the heat and second in the feature! 

7-14-08

Thursday was an exciting night, coming from 13th position to a 3rd place feature finish.  We traveled to Princeton to finish 2nd in the heat but the weather did not feel like cooperating and the races got canceled.  We had our first heat win in Brainerd, but the feature went a little rough and was unable to finish.  Sunday we finished the weekend with another top five finish. 

7-7-08 Fourth of July Weekend

Thursday started in Willmar with a good showing.  Friday and Saturday was spent in Wisconsin for the two day special at Kopellah. Saturday we were running second when a car spun out and I ended up losing two tires and rims.  The weekend was finished off with a top 10 finish at the spike.

6-30-08 And the Bad luck Continues

We worked all night on Saturday to get our engine in and running.  We made it to the spike and finished decent in the heat.  The feature came and the car was fast, but a few cars got tangled up in front of me and I was the victim of the hit. 

6-23-08 Another Disappointing Weekend

Thursday we headed to the KRA speedway in Willmar.  We started eighth in the heat and bolted our way up to fourth.  There was some trouble in the feature but ended with a 5th place.  Saturday we headed back up to alex and the night ended in disbelief as another engine went down for the Goulet Racing Team.
